Do you struggle with loud, frequent snoring? Are you always tired? Your symptoms indicate that you may be suffering from sleep apnea. Millions of people struggle with this serious disorder, but fortunately, help isn’t far away. Dr. Stephen Dean and our team are sleep apnea therapy experts, and we are ready to help you discover a better night’s rest. Would you like to get to know us a little better? In this post, you’ll learn about Dr. Dean, our practice, and how we can serve you.

Meet Dr. Dean

Dr. Stephen Dean’s interest in dentistry began during his childhood. When he grew up, he earned his dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. While he enjoys caring for his patients’ teeth, he has a special passion for helping them conquer sleep apnea. In fact, he has attended countless sleep apnea training courses to refine his knowledge and skills in this area. He is a member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and the Academy of Clinical Sleep Disorder Disciplines.

Meet Our Team

Working alongside Dr. Dean are several talented, friendly team members. Do you have questions about how your insurance applies to treatment? Talk to Renee — she has over 20 years of experience in dealing with insurance! Crystal, who works in our front office, is ready to welcome you into our practice and answer your questions. You may meet Ansley in the treatment room; she is a dental assistant who is devoted to making each patient feel like a member of our family.

What We Do

Most physicians are quick to prescribe a CPAP machine as the go-to treatment for obstructive sleep apnea. However, a CPAP machine by itself is not always the more desirable solution for patients who are longing for a better night’s sleep.

In many cases, oral appliance therapy is a viable alternative to CPAP. It is a small device that gently moves the jaw forward in order to keep the airway open at night. It is portable, silent, and easy to clean. Dr. Dean offers three different types of oral appliances, and he will recommend one for you that is based on your unique needs. He will custom-design your appliance and make sure it is optimally adjusted to provide you with effective sleep apnea relief and comfortable wear.

Dr. Dean may even supply you with an oral appliance that can be used along with your CPAP machine, perhaps allowing you to use your machine on a lower setting and eliminating the need to wear a full face mask.

Are you ready to achieve a better night’s sleep? The dream team at Covington Sleep Center is ready to answer your questions, assess your needs, and provide treatment.
